Just a short drive from Seawatch, the historic waterfront town of Southport, North Carolina is hosting its Spring Festival this weekend, April 22nd and 23rd in Franklin Square Park. Over 100 artists and crafters, mostly local, will showcase their coastal artwork from 10 am to 5 pm on Friday and 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday. Great finds for your beach-themed cottage or special tokens from the coast can be found throughout the show. Sea life pottery, handmade jewelry, and coastal themed artwork are just a few favorites. Also, be sure to get your ticket for the annual Robert Rourk Chili CookOff contest from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday…it is going to be a fun way to spend the day.
As noted in a recent post about River Fest in Wilmington, Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues & Jazz Festival in Kure Beach, and the North Carolina Oyster Festival on Ocean Isle Beach, the Fall Season here in southeastern North Carolina is filled with festivals.
This weekend is Holden Beach’s Festival by the Sea, the largest festival in the South Brunswick Islands. Activities include live music, arts/crafts/food vendors, parade, horseshoe and sandcastle building contests, face painting, and the Charlotte Kite Club flying kites. After the parade on Saturday, hundreds of people will walk across the Holden Beach Bridge (this is the only day of the year you can walk the bridge) to enjoy the vendors and other activities. Schedule of events here.
